Back in 1997, a Michigan native by the name of Glen Daly embarked on a mission to revolutionize tractor safety and eliminate the corrosive effects of outdated solutions. Glen Daly was not just a farmer but also a trained chemist, which played a pivotal role in his innovative journey.

While tending to his farm, Daly was using desugared molasses derived from sugar beets as a nutritional supplement for his cattle. It was during one particularly cold winter day when the temperature dipped to -5°F (-21°C) that he made a discovery. Even under these extreme conditions, the molasses still flowed smoothly from its tank. He had also recently replaced two rims on his tractor due to the damaging effects of calcium chloride corrosion. It was at this moment that a brilliant idea struck him.

Inspired by this revelation, Daly decided to experiment with desugared molasses as an alternative for the two rims he had replaced. To his amazement, it performed exceptionally well, even in the most bitter cold. With this breakthrough, Daly laid the foundation for what would eventually become Rim Guard.

Daly established his startup and nurtured it until it grew to encompass nearly 200 dealers by the time he sold it in 2005. Over the years, Rim Guard has continued to thrive, expanding its reach to include over 1,300 dealers across the United States, Canada and Finland.

Rim Guard: A Legacy of 25 Years

Fast forward 25 years from Glen Daly's initial patent, and Rim Guard has evolved into an industry leader with an unparalleled network of tire and equipment dealers.

Bob Fenton, the current President of Rim Guard, emphasizes the company's unwavering commitment to rural America. "It's as much about the people as it is the product," he emphasizes. "We have been blessed with solid growth. As good a product as Rim Guard is, we would not move a single gallon without an employee team that is passionate about service and a strong dealer network that cares deeply for the safety of its customers."

As Rim Guard looks back on a quarter-century of excellence, it is a testament to innovation and a dedication to serving not only the agricultural and heavy machinery industries, but also the people who rely on these machines for their livelihoods. The journey that began with a visionary farmer-scientist has now blossomed into an essential component of rural America's safety and efficiency, ensuring that farms and businesses thrive, even in the harshest conditions.
