TESTIMONIALS

Trusted by tire and
equipment dealers

"Installation of Rim Guard is easy and a big improvement over calcium chloride because there is no mixing required, which saves time. When you are mixing calcium, your skin is exposed to the product, which is very hard on your skin, clothes and equipment…and if you have a cut on your hand, you will know it!"

"Before Rim Guard, I did very little service at the many local equipment dealers in my area. Once I got my foot in the door installing Rim Guard, my sales went up considerably, not only from ballasting tires on new tractors, but also from referrals for flat repair work. Rim Guard and tire service go hand in hand."

Frequently asked questions

How easy is it to become a Rim Guard dealer?

Becoming a dealer is an easy process.  You can complete the “Become a Dealer form” on our website (60 seconds).  We will then call you to follow up and make sure that it is a good fit for both of us (3 minutes).  This is the most important step.  Marketing Rim Guard is a high calling.  We want to be sure you understand the uniqueness of the opportunity. Once that conversation is covered, there is an intake form to complete (3 minutes) to register you, and then we will ship you the items you will need.

What are the top three reasons to become a Rim Guard dealer?

Amazing product (naturally non-corrosive, freeze resistant to –35 F, weighs 10.7 pounds per gallon).
National marketing support.
Committed dealer-oriented team on the road and in the office.

What is the lead time to be set up as a Rim Guard dealer?

New dealers are normally set up the same day that they speak to us. The first order of inventory is delivered in less than 2 weeks.

How will customers know that I am now a Rim Guard dealer?

We will send you marketing materials to support your efforts (brochures, window cling, stickers). Most importantly we will add you to our dealer locator. Over 10,000 consumers a year use the locator to find their closest dealer. This will be your chance to connect with them on Rim Guard and discuss your other products and services.

What does it take to be a successful Rim Guard dealer?

Our most successful dealers operate tire stores or equipment dealerships. Customers trust their  dealer’s recommendations and are most open to installing ballast when they first purchase a tractor, buy an implement, or change tires. Customers love easy. When equipment is set up to be safe and efficient they are willing to pay extra. Many of our best dealers ballast the tires when a tractor is delivered to the dealer’s store. Tire service and liquid ballast go hand in hand.

Does a Rim Guard dealer need to offer mobile tire service to be successful?

Most initial installations of Rim Guard’s product occur while the unit is at a tire or equipment dealer. Dealerships that offer mobile installation are highly desirable in areas where customers expect onsite service when a tire needs to be changed or they purchase a new implement requiring ballast (in industries such as agriculture, landscaping, forestry, and mining).

What equipment is needed to get started as a Rim Guard dealer?

One of the remarkable things about Rim Guard is the low initial investment needed to get started. Your only initial investment is the pump kit and your first order of Beet Juice Tire Ballast. Some dealers start their relationship with us using IBC totes that they acquire locally. Dealerships who know they will sell 2,500 gallons or more in a year may opt for a Rim Guard provided bulk storage tank at no cost. No matter the storage approach that you choose you normally receive a 100% return on your initial investment before you finish selling your first 1,000 gallons.

How is Rim Guard stored and what is the shelf life?

Rim Guard is stored in bulk, vertical storage tanks or IBC totes. It is formulated to last indefinitely.

Can Rim Guard be recycled?

Rim Guard can be recycled by removing it from one tire and installing it in another tire. If you choose to dispose of the product, we recommend field applying it. Because it is nutrient dense, please be conservative with your application.

How is Rim Guard delivered?

We deliver in bulk from a truck and tanker trailer that carries 5,000 gallons.

How do I know how much Rim Guard should be installed in a tire?

Rim Guard’s searchable online database has over recommended fill amount for over 2,200 tire sizes. It is an easy tool to consult when providing a price quote to a customer.

How will I know when the tire is filled correctly?

Our demonstration video shows how to measure when the tire is filled to approximately 75%. Dealers use a tire stick, declining volume measurement or a meter to accomplish this.

What do customers pay for installing beet juice tire ballast?

Rim Guard does not set a retail selling price. That price is market dependent. There is a range of approaches to margining the product. Those approaches vary from building the value of beet juice tire ballast into the final equipment price, to selling it as a service line item to selling it per gallon plus a service charge. In all circumstances it is a value to the customers and a nicely margined item for the dealer.

Can a Dealer repair a punctured tire that is filled with Beet Juice Tire Ballast?

Yes. Dealers will use excellent quality tire plug kits to plug their tires. Follow the kit’s instructions for installing the plug into your tire.  Be sure to get the hole up to the top of the tire so you are installing the plug into the air space versus down below the liquid level.  If you prefer to use a sealant, please contact Rim Guard to learn more about environmentally friendly sealants that work!

How large of a compressor does the pump require?

20 CFM of output is the minimum recommendation for your compressor.

Why not recommend wheel weights or a ballast box on the hitch?

Ballasted tires transfer the weight directly to the ground where it provides the greatest benefit. Adding weight in the tires is easier on joints, axels, and bearings than iron weights. Installing liquid tire ballast keeps the weight out of sight, out of mind. A ballast box is clumsy but may be required in addition to Beet Juice Tire Ballast when the implement you have installed on the front of your unit requires extreme leverage.

What about the dealer that has been selling a chloride product?

We are happy to welcome dealers who have previously marketed calcium or magnesium chloride products.  Many of our best dealers were former chloride sellers who came to Rim Guard because they were tired of the rust, skin irrigation and OSHA required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) that comes with handling those products.

Is chloride bad for tractors?

Chlorides, like methanol and washer fluid, have their place but it is not inside a tire and rim.  Rim Guard’s focus, as the only company dedicated solely to tire ballast, is to support our dealers in creating tractor safety that is effective, efficient, and environmentally friendly.
